In addition to teaching our education classes, our members provide free vessel safety checks, help National Ocean Services keep nautical charts up to date, provide valuable local knowledge and port information through our Port Captains program, and work in partnership with local emergency organizations in rescue operations through our SERAT programs.

Vessel Safety Checks A free yearly Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is an important safeguard to a safe day on the water. There are no consequences if your boat doesn’t pass. Our goal, in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, is simply to make boating as safe as possible for you, your family and your friends. |

Cooperative Charting is a major public service performed by the members of Americas Boating Club. Our Cooperative Charting Programs have been called two of the most effective civilian user-participation programs in the Federal Government. Through our Geodetic and Nautical reporting programs we supply information to the National Geodetic Service (NGS), and the United States Coast Guard on land based Geodetic Marks and ATONs. Reports on specific Geodetic Marks help improve the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) prepare for the NSRS modernization in 2022 and the reports on ATONs help to keep the public aware of current Nautical Discrepancies that are a hazard to navigation. |
Port Captains With expert knowledge of local waters, our Port Captains provide information, reliable advice and camaraderie to fellow members, especially visitors, welcoming them to the neighborhood. Click here to see if there’s one near where you are going. |

SERAT Many fire and police departments lack sufficient water resources to respond to water-based emergencies. Our Squadron Emergency Response Assistance Teams (SERAT) furnish boats captained by boaters skilled in small boat handling and navigation. Teams provide support during emergencies, parades and other events. |
