Together, we make boating better
United States Power Squadrons — America’s Boating Club — has long been a leader in safe boating education, but working together with our partners allows us to expand our mission and make the water safer for everyone.
United States Coast Guard
We share a rich history with the United States Coast Guard. Today, we work with the agency on a range of grant projects such as on-the-water training, boating simulators, a Spanish-language boating course and a year-round boating safety initiative, Boat Live 365.
Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons
Our sister organization to the north, Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, evolved out of United States Power Squadrons in 1938 and has since grown to become a nationwide organization. Together, we support each other’s missions, share course materials and have fun!
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
We’ve worked with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, on the Vessel Safety Check Program since 2001. Through this service, we have increased the number of safe boaters on our waterways many times over.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Our partnership has been going for 55 years and counting. Together we’ve confirmed and found numerous geodetic markers and submitted thousands of updates and corrections to our nation’s nautical charts, making the waters safer.
National Safe Boating Council
Members across United States Power Squadrons come out in droves to support National Safe Boating Week, Ready, Set, Wear It! and other NSBC programs.
Sea Scouts, Boy Scouts of America
Individual squadrons partner with Sea Scout ships to provide training, education and support. A joint awards program, the Finley Sea Scout Service Award, honors qualified scouts and members who participate in both programs.
Partnering for good
In addition to our longtime partners, we also work with the American Radio Relay League on Amateur Radio events, Brunswick Corp. on the Dealer Advantage program and BoatUS Foundation on online course development. Squadrons work with both the SeaTow and BoatUS foundations to sponsor life jacket loaner stations. Squadrons also provide event support to Tall Ships America. We regularly support National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, American Canoe Association, National Marine Dealers Association, US Sailing Association, National Marine Manufacturers Association, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, United Safe Boating Institute and Sea Scouts, Boy Scouts of America.
Partner Spotlight: The Brunswick Dealer Advantage Program
Last year, Brunswick Dealers provided classroom space for over 150 USPS education classes in over 50 locations, supported USPS endeavors with monetary donations, and provided incentive monetary rewards to the squadrons who have held the most classes at their dealerships. Our partnership benefits squadrons, Brunswick dealers and the boating public.
