The world of maritime regulation and technology is always evolving. Part of being a responsible captain is staying up to date with the latest boating safety news. Whether it’s changes in life jacket requirements or updates on new electronic charting tools. America’s Boating Club | United States Power Squadrons keeps our members and the public informed through our local squadrons and national resources.

The maritime landscape is always evolving with stricter enforcement of federal safety standards and a significant push toward new technology as well. The U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities have increased their focus towards mandatory use of Engine Cut-Off Switches (ECOS) and transition of electronic visual distress signals over traditional flares. Furthermore, several states have also updated their boating safety course certificate requirements depending on the year born. Our squadrons stay at the forefront of these changes, providing members with timely alerts on new regulations as well as free vessel safety checks to ensure that your gear meets the latest compliance standards.
